7th Grade Homeschool Curriculum Choices: Electives

Now we are on to the fun stuff, ELECTIVES!! This includes not only the basics of art or music but also life skills, health, etc. While our state requires health, P.E., music, and art, I am still putting them with electives instead of their own post.

Let’s start with the “required” ones in most states.

For P.E. and health, we are not following a specified curriculum, and I don’t even have anything set up. We try and stay active, learn more about food nutrition and since he is now a teenage boy, we talk about the physical changes with his body.

For music, we are starting with Music Theory, taught by Lex, who has taken extensive music classes. Lex will also be giving him violin lessons.

Gavin is also teaching himself the guitar and the keyboard.

Next up is art, while he does a lot of painting and works with clay, he wanted to try out paint by numbers and diamond painting.

For foreign language, he is doing Spanish

He will also be learning ASL with Lex

Other than life skills, such as money management, cooking, home improvement, gardening, and more, he will also be working on critical thinking.

We will probably get more stuff throughout the year, as I doubt all of these will last all year, but for now, this is it.

What “electives” do you kid(s) do?
